A house built on hand, cloth and patience

It began with one print table in Jaipur

Qrubiss started with a small workshop, three artisans and a stack of carved teak blocks. The idea was simple and stubborn: everyday bags should be beautiful, honest, and made by people who are paid properly for their skill.

We began by printing a single tote. Friends asked for one, then their friends did, and within two seasons the workshop had grown into an atelier. What has not changed is the way each piece is made — printed by hand, quilted in three layers, checked by eye before it leaves.

Today Qrubiss pieces travel in more than 180 countries, but every one of them still begins on the same print table.

Carved, printed, quilted, finished — by hand

Hand block printing. Every design is carved into teak, one block per colour. A single tote can take four or five passes across the cloth, each aligned by eye.

Quilting. Printed cotton is washed, sun dried and quilted in three layers, giving the bag its structure without a stiff lining or plastic core.

Finishing. Reinforced double handles, bound seams, a lined interior pocket and a final inspection before the piece is folded and boxed.

Small batches. We make in runs of a few dozen, not a few thousand. Prints retire when the block wears down.

Indian craft, contemporary shape, made for travel

Colour. Marigold, indigo, madder, ivory and charcoal — a palette drawn from Rajasthani dye houses rather than from a trend forecast.

Pattern. Florals, gingham, stripe and animal motifs, all carved in-house so no two seasons repeat.

Form. Flat bases, wide openings, handles measured to clear a winter coat. Designed to be packed, folded and carried onto a plane.

Made in small runs, made to last

The most responsible bag is the one you keep. We build for years of use, make in small batches to avoid dead stock, and use offcuts for pouches and pockets.

Printing is done with low-water, hand-mixed dyes. Packaging is recycled board and cotton dust bags — no plastic film.
