What makes a Qrubiss bag different

Every tote in this collection starts as 100% cotton cloth that is printed by hand in our Jaipur atelier, using carved wooden blocks and one pass per color. The cloth is then washed, sun dried and quilted in three layers, which is what gives the bag its structure without any plastic stiffener inside.

The result is a bag that holds its shape when it is full and folds flat when it is not. Handles are double stitched and reinforced at the stress points, the interior is lined in soft cotton with one slip pocket, and the whole thing is machine washable — a practical detail that matters far more than it sounds when a coffee lid fails on the way to work.

Who these bags are for

They suit anyone who carries a lot and would rather not carry it in nylon. Our large tote measures roughly 18 × 6 × 18 inches, which comfortably takes a 15-inch laptop, a water bottle, a folder and a lunch bag at the same time. Students, teachers, nurses, market shoppers and weekend travelers use them for exactly that reason.

Because the prints are stamped by hand, no two bags are perfectly identical. Slight variation at the register is the signature of the craft, not a defect, and it is why a Qrubiss tote never looks mass produced beside a shelf of identical canvas bags.

How to style a handcrafted tote

The printed cotton does most of the work, so keep the rest simple: denim and a white shirt, a linen dress in summer, a long wool coat when the weather turns. Botanical and floral prints read best in spring and summer; the darker midnight and safari prints carry easily into fall.

For travel, pair one large tote with two block print pouches — one for cables and documents, one for toiletries — and the inside of the bag stops being a lost-and-found.

Care, materials and longevity

Wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colors, no bleach, dry flat away from direct sun and reshape the base while damp. Natural dyes deepen slightly with age rather than fading flat. Full instructions live in our guide to caring for quilted cotton.
