How to choose one bag for work and travel
A work bag and a travel bag pull in opposite directions. Work wants structure and a flat base; travel wants something that squashes into an overhead bin and washes when it comes home. A soft-sided quilted cotton tote is the honest middle: it stands when loaded, folds when empty.
What to check first
Can it hold a laptop with a folder beside it? Do the handles clear a coat on the shoulder? Does the base stay flat when you set it down at a gate? Our 18 x 6 x 18 in. totes answer yes to all three, which is why they get bought as a first bag more often than anything else.
What to give up
Zip-top security. Our totes are open-top by design, which is a fair trade for one-handed loading but worth knowing before you buy. If a closed compartment matters, keep documents in a structured travel pouch inside the bag.
The washing argument
Leather commuters get retired over one spilled coffee. Cotton goes in the machine cold and comes out. Start with Botanical Maze for a neutral ground, or browse handcrafted bags for women.
