The trick to travelling light is not owning less. It is deciding earlier.
One tote, two pouches
Keep documents and cables in the smaller pouch, toiletries in the larger one. The tote stays flat under the seat and folds into itself on the way home when it is carrying more than it left with.
Three rules
Choose one palette. Choose shoes first. Leave room for the thing you will inevitably buy.
