How to organize a travel bag so you stop unpacking it

Most travel disorder comes from one habit: packing by day instead of by category. Day-based packing means every item you need is under the items you needed yesterday.

Pack by category

Liquids together, cables together, documents together. Then the only question at any moment is which pouch, not which layer.

Keep the assignment permanent

Use the same pouch for the same category on every trip. After two or three trips your hand finds it without you looking, which is the entire point.

Leave the base packed

Chargers, an adapter and a spare pouch live in the bag year-round. Read the carry-on version in how to organize your carry-on, and see the pouch sets.
